Land of Light  Races

About

The Land of Light races are a unique opportunity to race on six different trail systems while benefiting two local non-profits, TruStrength Tomorrow and Western Foothill Land Trust of Maine.

Date: Sunday, October 8, 2023

Categories: 25K Solo or 3-Person Relay, and 100K Solo or Relay

Format: The 25k solo and relay category will start the day on a 5k loop at Roberts Farm Preserve and then utilize a vehicle or support car to travel to Noyes Mountain to run a steep 4k lollipop. Then back in the car to Shepard's Farm for a rolling 8k lollipop through Witt Swamp and the farm preserve, running past a collection of awesome artwork and statues. Racers then head to Twin Bridges on the Crooked River parcel for another 4-5k loop through lush forest before making the final car ride to Hawk Mt, racing new trail up to the finish line at the overlook gazing south across Bear Pond towards Sebago.
3 person relay teams utilize this same course, changing runners at any parcel, but must ride in the same vehicle and have only one active racer at any given time.
The 100k course is a fully human powered category where runners cannot use a car to travel between parcels but must cycle there! The course totals 25k running & 75k cycling and will be a feat worth boasting about! It starts at the Virgil Parris Preserve, starting the race with a 3k loop to warm up the legs before the crushing climb on the bike over Streaked Mt into town and heading to Roberts Farm where the course picks up the 25k route to the finish at Hawk Mt.

Location: Norway, Maine

Registration: $50 for solo 25K and solo 100K before September 27th (price is $60 after 9/27). $75 for 3-Person Relay 25K before September 27th (price is $90 after 9/27)
